Negam Care Secures License of CSIR-Developed Technology to Produce Bio-Bitumen from Agricultural Waste

Stemz Global is proud to announce that its agri-business arm, Negam Care, has signed a Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA) for “Bio-Bitumen via Pyrolysis: From Farm Residue to Roads”, an indigenous technology developed by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), New Delhi and CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun.

This pioneering indigenous technology has been developed by CSIR-CRRI, Delhi, in collaboration with CSIR-IIP, Dehradun, that converts agricultural residue into a bio-binder component through pyrolysis, enabling value creation from farm waste while reducing dependence on conventional fossil-fuel-based materials. This represents a major step forward for India in its infrastructure journey as it enters the era of “Clean, Green Highways.”

The agreement exchange ceremony was held on 07 January 2026 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, in the presence of Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari Ji, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, and Dr. Jitendra Singh Ji, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences, and Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi Ji, Director General, CSIR & Secretary DSIR.

Negam Care emerged as the only company from North-East India to be entrusted with this nationally significant technology underscoring the growing contribution of regional enterprises in India’s clean infrastructure and sustainability journey.

The bio-bitumen technology represents a transformative approach to road construction, converting farm residue into a high-performance bio-binder through pyrolysis. This innovation strengthens circular economy pathways by addressing agricultural waste challenges while reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based materials.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jitendra Singh remarked that “this day will go down in history” as India advances from fossil-fuel dependency to bio-driven, regenerative solutions, highlighting the role of science-led innovations in shaping climate-positive infrastructure.

Reflecting on the recognition, the leadership at Negam Care noted that the award reinforces the organization’s commitment to sustainable innovation and responsible industrial practices. This technology stands as a powerful example of how Indian science, industry, and policy can converge to deliver scalable, climate-positive infrastructure, advancing the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.

Through this achievement, Negam Care continues to expand the impact of agri-based innovation beyond traditional boundaries; bridging agriculture, sustainability, and infrastructure for long-term national benefit.
